Project Overview

Through this conceptual magazine design project,  I got to experience the end-to-end process of designing an industry-standard magazine -- from coming up with the branding of the magazine to structuring and designing editorials, table of contents, and cover page.

CONTEXT

Considering the highly digitized and chaotic modern lifestyle, I wanted to develop a magazine that relieves today's distressed readers by featuring inspiring stories from all around the globe that captures picturesque views and authenticity of various ways of living.

‘liven’ Cover Page

Why 'Liven'

After much trial, I chose the name ‘Liven’ to depict the ‘livened-up’ or rejuvenated feeling the audience will hopefully experience after reading the magazine. The name’s broader association with the word ‘life’ suits the content that Liven presents, which unveils various lifestyles and customs of people. The word’s positive connotation also allures the readers to anticipate lively, freeing, and pleasant content from the magazine.
For the cover story, I chose real-life free soloist, Alex Honnold’s summit to Mount El Capitan as I’m personally fascinated with the individual and his journey.
